Bearded Dragon Enclosures
The bearded dragon is an arid, ground-dwelling basker, and it is right at home in our wood line. Adults spend nearly the whole day on the floor of their enclosure, so they need room to roam, a long warm-to-cool gradient, and the high overhead UVB an arid basker needs. A 4x2x2 is the minimum; we recommend the 6x2x2, and every size up is space they will actually use.
The right footprint for an adult beardie
Every size is 2ft deep and 2ft tall. Only the length changes, and all ship free with liftgate.
A 4x2x2 is the floor, not the goal. We recommend the 6x2x2 for most adult beardies, and it is in stock and ready to ship. Every other width is made to order in about 2 to 4 weeks. Pick the footprint your room allows.
Drawn to scale so you can compare footprints. The matching two-drawer stand is available on the 6x2x2 for $499, the combo is $1,699.
Why we call 4x2x2 the minimum
An adult bearded dragon is a ground-dwelling forager that spends nearly its entire day inside its enclosure. Modern husbandry treats 4ft x 2ft x 2ft as the floor, not the goal. We recommend the 6x2x2: the extra length builds a fuller warm-to-cool gradient and gives your dragon more distance to walk, forage, and bask. The more floor space they have, the more they use. If your room allows it, go larger. (For the gallon-minded, a 6x2x2 is roughly 180 gallons and a 4x2x2 about 120, but footprint, not volume, is what matters for a floor-dwelling lizard.)
Upgrading? Welcome.
Most of our customers are moving a dragon up from a tank it outgrew. That is something to celebrate, not to feel behind on, and we will help you get the lighting and gradient right on day one. No judgment, just the next right step.
Lighting an arid basker
Bearded dragons sit in Ferguson Zone 3 to 4, the high end of the UVB scale, so they need a strong linear UVB source mounted overhead. Every enclosure ships with a wired 36-inch UVB-ready T8 fixture and two heat-lamp sockets installed; just add bulbs. For a beardie under a 24-inch-tall enclosure, we recommend the T5 HO upgrade: a T8 tube cannot push Zone 3 to 4 UVB down to the basking spot, while a T5 HO can. Pair it with an overhead basking lamp on a thermostat. We accommodate T5 HO fixtures and basking lamps; the bulbs are your choice.
Give your beardie the room it deserves.
The recommended 6x2x2 is ready to ship, in five furniture-grade finishes, free shipping with liftgate. Add the matching two-drawer stand to keep bulbs, supplements, and feeders out of the habitat.
